Fellows serve as team physicians for several Pinellas County High Schools and as assistant team physicians for NCAA Division 1 college athletes and professional athletes in Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball, and the Arena Football League. Endurance mass events coverage is substantial including a local 5K/10K race and several triathlons.
Teams
USF Athletics Fellows work with USF team physicians Drs. David Leffers, Charles Nofsinger, Eric Coris, Michele Pescasio and Tommy McElroy providing sideline coverage and conducting training room rounds.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Fellows may have an opportunity to work with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Physician, Kevin Elder, including performing PPEs, mini-camp or training camp coverage and/or training room rounds.
Philadelphia Phillies and Clearwater Threshers Fellows work with team physicians Drs. Allen Hughes, Sean Bryan, and Ted Farrar assisting with preparticipation physical evaluations, conducting game coverage and conducting training room rounds. The Threshers are the Class A Advanced minor league affiliate of the Phillies. The Phillies hold spring training in Clearwater.
Tampa Bay Storm Fellows work with the team physicians Drs. David Thompson, Sean Bryan, and Ted Farrar providing game coverage and consultation with team athletic trainers as needed.
Pinellas County High Schools Fellows provide preparticipation physical evaluations and game and event coverage for several high schools.
Mass Events
St. Petersburg Times Turkey Trot Fellows provide race day medical coverage for this 5K/10K road race held annually in Clearwater under the supervision of the race medical director.
Morton Plant Mease Triathlon Fellows serve as medical co-directors of this endurance mass event with supervision by Drs. Sean Bryan and Ted Farrar. Duties include medical consultation, patient care, event planning, coordination with Pinellas County EMS, and other medical aspects of this competition.
St. Anthony's Triathlon Fellows provide race day coverage under the supervision of medical co-directors Drs. John Gross and Corey Evans as long as this event does not conflict with the AMSSM Annual Meeting.
Miles for Moffitt Fellows provide race day medical coverage for this 5 mile road race for breast cancer awareness and fundraising under supervision of the race medical director, Dr. Eric Coris.
