In 1971, Teresa spent the year in Bolivia, South America, working in small missionary hospitals. After graduation from the university, she spent three years in England going to midwifery school, working and traveling on the continent. She moved back to the States landing in Clearwater, FL, where she joined the nurse-midwifery practice at Morton Plant Hospital.
Her interest in midwifery was sparked in the small missionary hospitals, seeing the impact of teaching basic nutrition, infant care and hygiene to the pregnant women. She feels it is rewarding to work with family-centered residents. She particularly enjoys using the team approach involving physicians and nurse-midwifes. She is committed to teaching comprehensive women's care and preventive health care through all life stages.
