Volunteers Needed At Morton Plant North Bay Hospital|
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (April 13, 2004)-"A smile, a touch, a caring ear...The power of a volunteer." This is the theme designated by Morton Plant Caring Partners volunteer organization for this year's National Volunteer Week on April 18-24. In honor of the week, Morton Plant North Bay Hospital is looking for people with a smile, touch and a caring ear to volunteer at the hospital.
Last year, the Caring Partners volunteers worked 34,661 hours at Morton Plant North Bay in a variety of tasks, including front desk reception, gift shop attendance, administrative work, knitting shawls and blankets for patients, and driving the HealthRide van - a free service for patients needing care at Morton Plant North Bay, Trinity Outpatient Center and selected physician's offices close to the hospital. With only 140 volunteers serving the hospital, there is a critical need for more volunteers in a wide variety of hospital duties.
"Our volunteer organization is a major part of our hospital operations," said William Jennings, administrator and chief operating officer, Morton Plant North Bay. "Without them, we could not perform many of the functions we need to serve our community."
