CLEARWATER, Fla. (January 9, 2004)--Team members at Morton Plant Mease Health Care showed their philanthropic spirit during their recent "Caring For Our Community" campaign, raising more than $275,000 for charitable organizations - the highest amount ever raised in the history of this campaign. The one-month campaign collected donations that will benefit the following organizations:
* The United Way, which offers programs and services that help benefit the local community, such as the American Red Cross, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Family Service Centers;
* The Morton Plant Mease Foundation, which helps improve the health of the community through foundation grants that fund vital hospital and community programs and services, including Care For The Medically Underserved, Cancer Patient Support Services, Emergency Care and Community Outreach; and
* The Family Care Fund - a unique emergency fund available to Morton Plant Mease team members in times of disaster or catastrophic need, such as house fires, family illness or sudden financial loss.
"The 'Caring For Our Community' campaign gives our team members the opportunity to give back to our community and to each other," said Philip K. Beauchamp, president and CEO of Morton Plant Mease Health Care. "Whether it's a team member or a neighbor in need, we are willing to lend a hand."
Established in 1994, Morton Plant Mease Health Care is an entity providing administrative and other services, including nursing services, to Morton Plant and Mease hospitals in Pinellas County and Morton Plant North Bay Hospital in Pasco County.
