Morton Plant North Bay Hospital Announces Michael Yungmann as New President
11/22/2013
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla., (November 22, 2013) - Morton Plant North Bay Hospital has appointed Michael Yungmann to the position of president effective January 6, 2014. Yungmann will be filling the position currently held by Hal Ziecheck, who announced his retirement earlier this year.

Yungmann comes to Morton Plant North Bay from Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, VA, where he was chief executive officer of the 300-bed facility. As president of Morton Plant North Bay, Yungmann will be responsible for leadership and day-to-day operations of the 154-bed hospital.

“Mike brings a great combination of clinical, administrative and Pasco County experience to Morton Plant North Bay,” noted Glenn Waters, president of BayCare Health System’s hospital division, who oversees Morton Plant North Bay Hospital, along with the other BayCare hospitals.

While at Southside, Yungmann was instrumental in attaining national certifications and accreditations for the hospital’s cancer, stroke and cardiology programs and developing or enhancing such services as spine and joint, emergency care, bariatrics and gastroenterology.

“Mike is experienced in working with major health organizations, including Community Heath Systems, a leading operator of general acute-care hospitals,” said Waters. “His ability to build new programs along with his understanding of health care and its changing environment will be an asset to Morton Plant North Bay and the West Pasco community.”

Yungmann’s hospital experience also includes Lake Wales Medical Center, Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, Lehigh Regional Medical Center and Pasco Regional Medical Center. “Michael is familiar with the Pasco community and we believe his understanding of the community will be very helpful as we continue to work to improve the health of Pasco county residents,” said Marc Bowman, chair of the Morton Plant North Bay board.

“With its expansions and renovations over the past several years, Morton Plant North Bay has grown to be an essential part of the health care landscape in Pasco,” said Yungmann. “My family and I are excited to return to Pasco and become part of the community again.”

Retiring Morton Plant North Bay President Hal Ziecheck will assist Yungmann with the transition process.

Yungmann holds a bachelor’s of health science in physical therapy from the University of Florida and a master’s of business administration from Saint Leo University. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and currently serves on the board of Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association.
