Morton Plant North Bay Hospital Presents Health Seminars Focusing on the Heart|
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla., (September 14, 2012) - Morton Plant North Bay Hospital invites the community to attend two health seminars focusing on cardiovascular health this month. The events will spotlight the importance of reducing risk factors for cardiovascular disease and the latest advancements in treating heart valve disease.
On Thursday, September 20, 2012, at Noon, Morton Plant Hospital’s Valve Clinic’s team coordinator will discuss Innovations In Heart Valve Procedures. Attend to learn more about treating heart valve disease and a new innovation in heart valve procedures called transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).
TAVR is a breakthrough treatment option for patients with severe aortic stenosis who were previously considered inoperable. Aortic stenosis is a disease process that affects the aortic valve of the heart. In the later stages of the disease, the valve does not properly open and close, causes the heart to work harder to push blood through the calcified aortic valve, weakens the heart’s muscles and increases the patient’s risk for heart failure.
Morton Plant Mease cardiologist Rami Akel, MD, presents Improve Your Cardiovascular Health on Tuesday, September 25, at Noon, to discuss the latest diagnosis and treatments of cardiovascular diseases and how to help reduce your risk factors.
Both health seminars will be held in the Bekesh Education and Conference Center, 6600 Madison Street, New Port Richey, FL. To register for the seminars, visit www.baycare.org or call: (727) 953-6877.
