Morton Plant Mease Provides Free Skin Cancer Screening on Melanoma Monday|
CLEARWATER, Fla., (April 2, 2012) – Morton Plant Mease physicians and other health care practitioners will participate in Melanoma Monday, a nationwide campaign to raise awareness and encourage early detection of skin cancers. This will be the 16th annual Morton Plant Mease Melanoma Monday event offering free skin cancer screenings to the community. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States with more than one million cases diagnosed annually. Florida residents are particularly at risk due to year round exposure to UV rays.
Morton Plant Mease will provide the free skin cancer screening on May 7, 2012, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.:

Melanoma is the most-life threatening form of skin cancer. The American Cancer Society estimates about 120,000 new cases of melanoma are diagnosed in the U.S. every year and 9,000 people die from melanoma each year. Melanoma is the fifth most common cancer for men and sixth most common for women.
