Traffic Alert For Upcoming Morton Plant Mease Prostate Cancer Awareness Race|
CLEARWATER, Fla., (August 30, 2011) – Local traffic will be impacted as part of the second Morton Plant Mease Foundation Prostate Cancer Awareness Race, scheduled to get underway on the Morton Plant Hospital campus Saturday, September 10 at 7:30 a.m.
The event is expected to attract approximately 1,000 runners, volunteers and spectators for the family-friendly 5K run/walk.
The following streets will be impacted from approximately 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. during the race:
- Corbett Street
- Druid Road South
- Druid Road West
- Oak Avenue
- Rogers Street
- Orange Avenue
- Willadel Drive
- Coe Road
- Flamingo Drive
- Bay Avenue
The Morton Plant Mease Foundation is working with officials, with law enforcement officers from Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department, as well as the cities of Clearwater and Belleair directing traffic during the event.
Participants can register by visiting www.imathlete.com/events/mpmf5k. The registration fee is $25 until Aug. 31 and $30 after Sept. 1. The registration fee for the Kids Dash is $10. Online registration closes Sept. 7, with late registration available day of the race.
The family-friendly event is presented by Urology Specialists of West Florida, and benefits Morton Plant Mease community screenings and education services and assists prostate cancer patients who may not have the resources for treatment.
