Skip Cline Society Supports Pediatric Services at Mease Countryside's St. Joseph's Children's Specialty Center|
CLEARWATER, Fla., (August 9, 2011) - The Skip Cline Society continues its mission to support pediatric services at the hospitals of Morton Plant Mease in two ways. The group recently donated a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) baby simulator for the nurses and physicians in pediatric services at Mease Countryside Hospital. Recognizing their mission of expanding and supporting pediatric services in north Pinellas communities, the education conference room at the new St. Joseph's Children's Specialty Center at Mease Countryside Hospital has been named the Skip Cline Society Education Conference Room.
"We are happy to support the St. Joseph's Children's Specialty Center at Mease Countryside," said Bryan Stanley, Skip Cline Society president. "The Skip Cline Society Education Conference Room can be a great resource for parents when it is used for community health events and educational seminars focusing on children's health, development and wellness. The NICU baby simulator is specially-sized to replicate the needs of NICU infants and is a useful training tool."
The Skip Cline Society is a dynamic group of young professionals who share a common interest in advancing the future of health care and Morton Plant Mease's pediatric services. The group organizes signature events such as the Morton Plant Mease Triathlon, Lobster Bake "Claws for a Cause, and the family friendly fishing tournament "Seawall Rodeo."
The St. Joseph's Children's Specialty Center opened at Mease Countryside Hospital in March in an effort to continue providing the latest advances in pediatric services in Pinellas County. The center offers physical, occupational and speech therapy programs, on-site pediatric laboratory services and physician sub-specialty services in the areas of endocrinology, neurology, infectious disease and cardiology.
St. Joseph's Children's at Morton Plant Mease services started at Mease Countryside in 2009 and includes emergency services, a neonatal intensive care unit and an enhanced 18-bed, private inpatient children's unit. The addition of the specialty center continues the collaboration to offer higher level care for pediatric patients admitted to Mease Countryside for inpatient medical care. Children needing pediatric surgery for additional care may be transferred to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital.
