Morton Plant Mease Physician Honored With Family Physician Educator Award|
CLEARWATER, Fla., (April 28, 2011) -For his work in medical education, Morton Plant Mease physician George E. Hutter, MD, recently was honored with the 2010 Florida Family Physician Educator Award from the Florida Academy of Family Physicians.
The award plaque states: "In recognition and appreciation of your outstanding efforts in providing quality education to medical students, residents, and practicing family physicians."
Until Jan. 1 of this year, Dr. Hutter was the Associate Director and Affiliate Associate Professor at the University of South Florida-Morton Plant Mease Family Medicine Residency located at the Turley Family Health Center. He recently was named a Vice President of Medical Affairs for Morton Plant Mease.
In addition, Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater recently appointed Dr. Hutter to the Florida Healthy Kids Corporation Board of Directors, as the Florida Academy of Family Physicians representative.
Dr. Hutter was the first medical director at Turley Family Health Center when it opened in 1999 and served as interim program director from 2007-08. The center provides comprehensive medical services with a focus on prevention and wellness for members of the community who may not otherwise receive health care. The center also is home to the Family Medicine Residency program.
Before attending medical school, Dr. Hutter held numerous management positions in the medical diagnostic industry in the U.S. and abroad. He completed his medical degree in 1986 at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit.
The Florida Academy of Family Physicians (FAFP) is the state's medical specialty association comprised of more than 4,000 family medicine physicians, resident physicians and medical students from across the state.
