BAYCARE HEALTH SYSTEM AND BLUE CROSS AND BLUE SHIELD OF FLORIDA REACH 33-MONTH CONTRACT AGREEMENT

CLEARWATER, Fla. (January 10, 2003)-BayCare Health System and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida today announced agreement to a 33-month contract that provides coverage at all BayCare hospitals and outpatient centers for patients with HMO and commercial coverage. The contract is retroactive to January 1, 2003.
"BayCare Health System and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida have reached an agreement after compromise from both organizations, and regret any inconvenience this process has caused," said Isaac Mallah, president/CEO, St. Joseph's-Baptist Health Care. "After months of negotiations, we came to an agreement that modifies the Blue Cross outpatient structure, as well as a contract that offers fair and equitable rates."
The contract provides coverage for Blue Cross members with any type of insurance, at all BayCare hospitals which include: St. Joseph's, St. Joseph's Women's, Tampa Children's, South Florida Baptist, St. Anthony's, Morton Plant and North Bay hospitals. It also includes coverage at any of BayCare's outpatient centers which include: St. Joseph's Diagnostic Center at Carollwood, St. Joseph's Diagnostic Center at WestChase, St. Joseph's Diagnostic Center-main, Morton Plant's Carlisle Imaging Center, Morton Plant's Trinity Outpatient and Surgery Center, Morton Plant's Bardmoor Outpatient and Surgery Center, St. Anthony's Tyrone Imaging Center, St. Anthony's Outpatient Center at Carillon and Morton Plant's Turley Family Health Center.
BayCare Health System is a joint operating agreement among the Tampa Bay area's leading hospitals, creating the region's only full-service, community-owned health care system. The hospitals that are part of BayCare Health System's joint operating agreement include: St. Joseph's Hospital, Tampa; St. Joseph's Women's Hospital, Tampa; Tampa Children's Hospital, Tampa; South Florida Baptist Hospital, Plant City; St. Anthony's Hospital, St. Petersburg; Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater; and North Bay Hospital, New Port Richey.
