Mease Countryside Hospital Named Top 100 Seven Times|
National Ranking Identifies Benchmarks for Success
SAFETY HARBOR, Fla., (March 20, 2008) - Mease Countryside Hospital has been named as a “Top 100” hospital as part of a national study of hospital-wide performance. The 2007 Thomson 100 Top Hospitals National Benchmarks for Success study recognized Mease Countryside for its overall organizational achievement. This is the seventh time that Mease Countryside has been recognized for its overall performance by the 100 Top Hospital study.
“Achieving national recognition requires the dedication and commitment of our board, physicians, team members and volunteers,” stated Jim Pfeiffer, executive vice president, Morton Plant Mease Health Care and chief operating officer, Mease Countryside Hospital. “This is truly a group effort and we are pleased to be able to provide our community with nationally ranked health care services.”
Hospitals across the country were ranked based on objective statistical performance measurement across four critical areas: clinical processes and outcomes, patient safety, operational efficiency, and financial stability.
“We are so pleased with Mease Countryside’s achievement,” said Morton Plant Mease President and Chief Executive Officer, Philip K. Beauchamp. “This is one of 26 total Top 100 awards our Morton Plant Mease hospitals have received, including Morton Plant Hospital which is one of only two hospitals in the entire country to have received the Thomson 100 Top Hospitals: Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success for its open heart surgery care nine consecutive times.”
To select the top 100 hospitals, 3018 hospitals were scored against others that fell within the same category. This study focuses on short-term, acute care, non-federal U.S. hospitals that treat a broad spectrum of patients. Data from public sources was used including the Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MedPAR) data set, and the Medicare Cost Report. Mease Countryside Hospital is in the major community hospital category.
