2006 Press Releases
Morton Plant Mease Immediate Care Center Opens in Pasco County
Medical Care Provided Seven Days a Week Without an Appointment

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla., (November 2, 2006) - Sprains, ear infections, the flu - all may be reasons to see a physician, but not necessarily a physician in a hospital emergency room. Morton Plant Mease Health Care is giving patients another option other than a visit to the ER by opening the Morton Plant Mease Immediate Care Center in Trinity, Florida. The new center opened on November 1 and provides care for patients experiencing minor injuries and illnesses. The center is open seven days a week. Appointments are not necessary, but for more information patients may call (727) 372-3143.

“Many illnesses such as severe colds or ear infections may require quick medical attention, but may not be emergencies,” said John D. Couris, administrator and chief operating officer, Morton Plant North Bay Hospital, who also oversees outpatient services for Morton Plant Mease. “The Morton Plant Mease Trinity Immediate Care Center provides medical care after-hours and on the weekends, but it’s believed immediate care center patients with illnesses or injuries that are not emergencies will avoid the cost and time involved in a typical visit to an emergency room.”

The Morton Plant Mease Immediate Care Center is approximately 2,500 square feet and its staff includes a board-certified physician. Certain types of X-ray examinations are performed at the center as well as selected laboratory services allowing for potentially faster diagnosis and treatment of patients. Located at 1306 Seven Springs Boulevard, the center was relocated from the West Pasco County community of Hudson.

“Our mission is to best serve the health care needs of the community. By relocating to the Trinity area, but remaining in Pasco County, we’ll continue our mission in an area of the county whose population has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years and continues to grow,” said Couris.

Nationally recognized for health care excellence, Morton Plant Mease Health Care is dedicated to providing community owned health care services that set the standard for high-quality, compassionate care. Morton Plant Mease Health Care is comprised of the following hospitals – Morton Plant, Clearwater; Mease Dunedin, Dunedin; Mease Countryside, Safety Harbor and Morton Plant North Bay, New Port Richey.
