NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla., (April 8, 2002)--- North Bay Hospital recently opened its expanded emergency room featuring five additional examination rooms to offer fast track care. The $670,000 renovation gives North Bay a 5,060-square foot emergency care department and includes a new triage area, enlarged waiting room and computerized bedside registration.
"With the addition of express care, our goal is to more quickly treat minor emergencies and get patients home sooner-this will also help expedite care for our more critically ill and injured patients," said William M. Jennings, administrator and chief operating officer of North Bay Hospital. North Bay's emergency department expansion increases the number of treatment rooms to a total of 15.
The newly renovated emergency care department at North Bay hospital also features a dedicated pediatric treatment room, which employees donated their time to paint in a colorful jungle mural. In 2001, North Bay Hospital treated 22,000 emergency patients, admitting approximately 18 percent for inpatient care.
