2004 Press Releases
Morton Plant Opens Immediate Care Center at Bardmoor

Largo, Fla., (February 18, 2004) -To provide improved access to urgent medical care, Morton Plant Immediate Care Center at Bardmoor opened Monday, February 2, 2004. Intended for patients experiencing minor injuries and illness, the immediate care center will have office hours seven days a week. Appointments are not necessary and most major insurance plans are accepted.

"The Immediate Care Center will complete the cycle of care we offer to patients and their families," said Philip K. Beauchamp, president and CEO of Morton Plant Hospital. "There is a real need in the greater Largo area for after-hours and weekend care of minor illnesses and injuries."

"When we opened the Bardmoor Outpatient and Surgery Center on this same location in 1998, we believed we were filling a need for health care services in the neighborhood. We are pleased to be able to extend our commitment to improving the health of the Largo community by providing an alternative for the treatment of minor ailments," Beauchamp noted.

Sprains, strains, flu and ear infections are just some of the conditions Morton Plant's Immediate Care Center is set up to treat. An outpatient physical rehabilitation clinic for work-related injuries and physical therapy will be located on site in the Immediate Care Center. Physicals and drug screenings are also available. On-site radiology and selected laboratory services for selected tests will facilitate diagnosis and the almost $1 million, 3,750 square-foot center will have five board-certified physicians on staff.

"Patients and physicians both benefit from the opening of the center. Patients can receive immediate care without an appointment during weekend and off-hours and physicians can have a ready resource to refer a patient with an urgent medical problem," said Beauchamp.

Located in Largo at 8711 Bryan Dairy Road in front of Morton Plant's Bardmoor Outpatient and Surgery Center, the Immediate Care Center at Bardmoor is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
