Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and Cardiovascular Health Improvement Progam (CHIP)

Participating in a rehabilitation program is one of the best ways to enhance the recovery of cardiac patients and help them return to a more active lifestyle. That’s why our specialized Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is so important. Our program is nationally certified by the American Association of Cardio-Vascular Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) and is one of the largest in Pinellas County.

Read what patients say about our cardiac rehabilitation program.

If you have experienced any of the following conditions, cardiac rehabilitation could dramatically improve your quality of life:

  • Heart attack
  • Heart valve surgery
  • Coronary stent/angioplasty
  • Coronary bypass heart surgery
  • Stable angina
  • Other heart problems

How the Program Works

  • In order to participate in the program, a participant must first be referred by his or her physician. Rehabilitation is covered by Medicare and many insurance policies.
  • Each participant receives a personalized prescription for an individual exercise program that may last from 24 to 36 visits, normally three times a week.
  • All participants are EKG-monitored and supervised by registered nurses or exercise physiologists during the exercise routine.
  • Patients who complete our program improve their fitness level, quality of life, and achieve desired blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Many patients lose weight as well.
  • Our staff conducts education programs that explain the benefits of lifestyle changes and stress management techniques.
  • Special classes for patients with diabetes or pulmonary conditions are also offered. Individual consultations with dietitians and other healthcare professionals are available by appointment.
  • Transportation and financial help is available to patients in need.

Cardiovascular Health Improvement Program (CHIP)

Are You Getting the Exercise Your Heart Needs?

The Cardiovascular Health Improvement Program (CHIP) is designed to help people who need close supervision during exercise. It is intended to teach participants how to exercise safely and effectively.

Who Can Benefit from CHIP

People who have heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, peripheral vascular disease or congestive heart failure can benefit from the program. It is also a good first step for those new to exercise who need guidance and close supervision.

  • Program is staffed by registered nurses and exercise physiologists.
  • Participants are closely supervised with EKG monitors and BP evaluations during exercise.
  • Staff works closely with physicians, keeping them updated with final reports, and progress notes, if needed.
  • No insurance hassles. This is a self-pay program.
