Specialty Areas Streamline Treatment Process

The 5,060-square foot Emergency Department includes dedicated areas for specialized treatment of various conditions:

  • Triage Area: Here, we assess patient needs and providing immediate intervention upon patient arrival.
  • Pediatric Treatment Room: We provide the closest pediatric emergency care for Pasco County residents. The center is colorful, child-friendly and equipped to assist specially trained medical staff in addressing the unique issues associated with children’s injuries and illnesses.
  • 10 Major Examination Rooms: These rooms are equipped to treat critically ill and injured patients.
  • 5 Minor Examination Rooms: Special areas devoted to treating patients with minor medical emergencies.

Digital Technology

Morton Plant North Bay Hospital is the first completely digital hospital in Pasco County so there’s little waiting for radiology test results. A computerized system creates digital images of X-rays, CT scans and ultrasounds and transmits these images electronically. They are available to any department in the hospital, including emergency, almost instantaneously. For patients, that means less waiting time, quicker diagnosis, and more timely treatment.

Cardiac Transport Unit

Our emergency cardiac transport unit provides prompt response to patient needs. The exclusive ambulance service transports patients between North Bay Hospital in New Port Richey and other area medical facilities, including Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater. Staffed by a full-time paramedic, an emergency medical technician, and a registered critical care nurse, the inter-hospital vehicle is available to cardiac patients who need emergency procedures that can’t be performed at North Bay Hospital. It is also available to other acute patients, such as stroke victims, who would benefit from interventional neuroradiology procedures available at Morton Plant in Clearwater.
