Axelrod Pavilion

In a continuing effort to provide advanced medical technology and expanded cancer diagnostic and care services, the new Axelrod Pavilion is now open at Morton Plant Hospital.

Encompassing 103,500 square-feet, the four-story Axelrod Pavilion is the new home for an expanded Susan Cheek Needler Breast Center. Susan Cheek Needler Breast Center provides patient-focused, expedited diagnostic breast imaging while focusing on each woman's physical and emotional needs.

Relocated to the Axelrod Pavilion, Carlisle Imaging Center continues to provide a full range of imaging exams including diagnostic X-ray, MRI, PET/CT, ultrasound, and mammography.

Also relocated to Axelrod Pavilion is Morton Plant Hospital's Evelyn R. Simmers Oncology Resource Library. A social worker navigator is also located in the building to help guide patients and their families through the cancer treatment process.

Most recently, Morton Plant Hospital's Cancer Patient Support Services (CaPSS) program relocated to Axelrod Pavilion. CaPSS provides cancer patients and their families access to counselors, support groups and education in effective coping skills.

Additionally, the Pavilion houses offices for oncology physicians, including the Comprehensive Breast Care Center of Tampa Bay, which is headed by surgical oncologists Dr. Peter Blumencranz and Dr. Kathleen Allen.

The Axelrod Pavilion is named for Shirley and Harvey Axelrod in recognition of Mrs. Axelrod's generous support of Morton Plant Mease Foundation.
